Based on information received from Hong Kong’s Health Department, Macau’s Health Bureau (SSM) has warned the public against buying and using a skin cream sold under the Chinese trade name “Baizhifang”.
According to an SSM statement yesterday, the composition of the cream includes a substance known as “betamethasone dipropionate”, a corticosteroid whose inadequate or excessive use can result in skin problems and cause side effects such as hypertension, adrenal insufficiency, facial oedema, and osteoporosis.
The statement pointed out that the Health Bureau has never authorised the import of the cream.
