During a visit to the Pou Lei Centre of the Fuhong Society of Macau yesterday, chief executive candidate Ho Iat Seng told reporters that including employees with disabilities in the city’s future minimum wage system would reduce their employment opportunities.
The Pou Lei Centre in Areia Preta district, established in 2003, provides occupational rehabilitation and employment support services for people with mild or moderate intellectual disabilities aged at least 16. The services include work in the centre’s vocational training workshop, on-the-job training, and independent living skills training.
During the visit, Ho and his election campaign team members were briefed by the society’s senior members including its leader, veteran social worker Fátima Santos Ferreira, about the centre’s operations. During the visit, Ho attended a brainstorming session with the society’s senior members, and also chatted with the users of the centre and their parents.
