The mainland police transferred to the Judiciary Police (PJ) on Saturday a local man who was sentenced in absentia to 14 years in prison in Macau for his involvement in the kidnapping of well-known local Portuguese lawyer Jorge Neto Valente in 2001.
Neto Valente, a former lawmaker, heads the Macau Lawyers Association (AAM).
According to media reports at that time, the local police rescued Neto Valente in March 2001 from a local flat five days after he had been kidnapped in Sai Van when he was driving home.
