The results of an online survey carried out by Orbis Macau and released yesterday show that 60 percent of the respondents suffer from various levels of dry eye syndrome, and nearly 20 percent suffer from a “moderate to severe” level.
The charitable organisation held a press conference at the Henry Fok Specialist Medical Centre of Kiang Wu Hospital yesterday, where it released its latest findings of a survey of 2,500 local residents’ level of dry eye sickness. The survey was based on an international clinical test index for dry eye syndrome, according to Mary Lau Wai Sze, chairwoman of Executive Committee of Orbis Macau.
The dry eye symptoms include eye dryness, blurry vision, stinging or pain, scratchiness or irritation, sensitivity to light and easy susceptibility to tiredness, according to Lau.
