The Public Security Police (PSP) arrested a local male university student in his twenties on Saturday for stealing at least one mobile phone from each of two outdoor basketball courts in Areia Preta district that their respective owners had left with their personal belongings while playing a game, a PSP spokesperson said during a regular press conference yesterday.

The police meanwhile also arrested the owner of a mobile phone shop in Toi San district, a local man in his forties, who admitted that he had bought a mobile phone from the student despite knowing that the mobile phone did not belong to the seller, according to the spokesperson.

The mobile phone theft suspect is surnamed Iao, while the shop’s owner is surnamed Kong.
