Five drivers were caught for suspected illegal road racing in Tapia in the early hours of yesterday, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Wong Wai Chon told The Macau Post Daily last night, adding that the police believe that one of the five cars has been illegally “modified”.

According to Wong, the police recently received complaints from local residents living nearby about illegal road races in Estrada da Ponta da Cabrita. Following the complaints, the police began to stake out several roads in Taipa and Coloane.

Wong told The Macau Post Daily that the five drivers are male local residents, aged between 22 and 38. Three of the suspects comprise a university student, a sales assistant, and a businessman, while one told the police that he is jobless and another declined to reveal his occupation.
