Certain facilities at power utility CEM’s former power station in Avenida de Venceslau de Morais, which is earmarked for demolition, should be set aside as a “cultural and creative zone”, Ieng Weng Fat, a member of the government-appointed Cultural Industries Council, said yesterday.
Ieng, who holds a PhD in history from Jinan University in Guangdong, made the appeal during a meeting of the council at the Tourism Activities Centre (CAT).
Secretary for Transport and Public Works Raimundo do Rosario has repeatedly said that the government plans to build public housing on the plot of land once it has been repossessed from CEM.
