Three men were arrested by the Judiciary Police (PJ) on Thursday night for defrauding a Cotai casino, while five suspects are still at large, PJ spokeswoman Lei Hon Nei said at a special press conference on Saturday.

Lei did not name the casino, adding that a criminal gang had recruited a dealer and paid him to cheat the casino by wearing a “specially made” ring on his pinky finger which he used to lift the corner of each card before putting the cards into an electronic dealing shoe on Wednesday and Thursday.

A suspect pretending to be a “gambler” stood near the table and used a video camera hidden in a “specially made” bag to record all the suits and numbers of the cards in the order that the croupier had put the cards in the shoe, Lei said, adding that the “gambler” then gave the bag to an accomplice to take away to upload the film onto a computer, and both of them left the table.
