Executive Council spokesman Leong Heng Teng said yesterday that the government proposes the setting-up of a unit under the Judiciary Police (PJ) for the enforcement of Macau’s national security law, as well as an anti-terrorism unit.

Addressing a press conference at Government Headquarters, Leong said that the council, the government’s top advisory body, has completed its discussion of a bill amending the current law regulating the operation and structure of the Judiciary Police, which came into force in 2006.

The amendment bill will be submitted in due course to the Legislative Assembly (AL) for debate and vote.
