The Fire Services Bureau (CB) has decided to suspend a fireman who was arrested in 2015 for allegedly running an illegal sports betting business after the Public Prosecution Office (MP) shelved the case earlier this year, as the bureau considered that from the viewpoint of disciplinary responsibility, the fireman had “obviously violated the principle of uprightness” that security forces personnel are supposed adhere to, the Secretariat for Security (GSS) announced on its website yesterday.
After the Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested the fireman on June 2, 2015, the Secretariat for Security released information about the case on its website. It has periodically updated its information on the case.1 pupil loses 80,000 patacas betting
According to the GSS website, PJ officers discovered that the fireman had been running illegal sports betting since September 2014 from a mobile phone shop that he and his friend were jointly running, before arresting him on June 2, 2015. The fireman received bets from a number of pupils, who lost a total of 160,000 patacas, with one of the pupils losing 80,000 patacas, according to the website.
