A female tourist from the mainland reported a false robbery to the police on Wednesday claiming that two illegal money changers had robbed her of HK$100,000 in cash, as she did not want her family to know that she had gambled away the money in Macau, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Ho Chan Nam said during a regular press conference yesterday.
Ho identified the suspect as a 35-year-old surnamed Zeng who told the police that she is unemployed.
According to Ho, Zeng reported to the police at 9 p.m. on Wednesday that she had been robbed of HK$100,000 by two money changers.
