The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested a male mainlander on Friday for stealing two diamond rings and a platinum necklace worth over 58,000 patacas from a jewellery shop in San Kio district last month, PJ spokesman Ho Chan Nam said during a special press conference on Saturday.

The suspect managed to steal the three items that the shop owner had taken from the display cabinet, after asking the latter to give him a plastic carrier bag.

Ho identified the suspect as a 51-year-old surnamed Chen who told the police that he works in the aquaculture sector.
