The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested a male mainlander on Friday for stealing HK$37,000 in cash from a female mainland tourist in a shopping centre of a gaming resort in Cotai last month, PJ spokesman Leng Kam Lon said during a special press conference on Saturday.

Leng identified the suspect as a 36-year-old surnamed Lan who told the police that he works in the logistics sector.

The female victim reported to the police on December 27 that when she was shopping in the resort earlier that day she discovered that HK$37,000 in cash in her bag had vanished, Leng said.
