Macau’s average composite consumer price index rose 2.75 percent year-on-year in 2019, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) announced yesterday.

According to a DSEC statement, the increase was driven by higher rentals for residential units, the higher cost of eating out, as well as higher prices of fresh pork and gasoline.
The price sub-indices of education (+5.65 percent), transport (+4.86 percent), food and non-alcoholic beverages (+3.82 percent) and health (+3.50 percent) recorded notable growth, while the sub-index of alcoholic beverages and tobacco dipped 0.45 percent.
