In a joint effort to enable the deaf and hearing-impaired to keep up-to-date on the development of the novel coronavirus epidemic and the latest news on the government's response to the threat, the Social Welfare Bureau (IAS), government-owned TV and radio station TDM and Macau Voice Association have agreed to cooperate in boosting live sign language broadcasts.

According to a statement by the bureau today, TDM’s live broadcasts of the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre’s daily press conference about the virus threat will feature a sign language interpreter.

The bureau’s statement urged the public to pay close attention to the information needs of persons with disabilities during the viral threat.

The statement did not say when the arrangement will take effect.
