HK cop flees to Macau with HK$1 million: reports

According to Hong Kong Chinese-language news media reports on Monday, a Hong Kong police sergeant who stole HK$1.07 million in bail money from a report room at a police station in Wan Chai has absconded to Macau.

Speaking to reporters during a press briefing yesterday, both Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Choi Ian Fai and Public Security Police (PSP) spokeswoman Chong Sin I said they did not have any further information about the case. They added that their Hong Kong counterparts had not filed any request for help.

According to the Hong Kong media reports, the suspect is a 43-year-old acting station sergeant responsible for running the Arsenal Street station’s report room.
