Faslane, comprising Matthew Ho Pak Hon and António Sou Yan Ting, had been planning to join Swiss duo Influut, comprising Nat Cilia and Daniel Maszkowicz, on an Asia Tour that was to have kicked off in Macau on Sunday.
The tour was to take in Macau, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan but due to the COVID-19 travel restrictions put in place by several governments anyone visiting the mainland, Macau and Hong Kong 14 days prior to arriving in the respective countries or regions could be denied entry or quarantined.
So rather than let down their fans, Faslane with guest percussionist Tom Ip Chin Pang as well as three other local bands will be playing and live streaming the concert that has been organised with the help of Cinema Spoutnik in Geneva and the Live Music Association in Macau, which is the only time that Faslane and Influut will be able to play together on the tour as Faslane had to cancel their participation. Influut will still be playing gigs in Japan and Taiwan.
Faslane was formed by Ho and Sou Yan Ting in 2014,
A statement that Faslane sent to The Macau Post Daily last night said that “Influut gives its full support to anyone from the People’s Republic of China who is living in seclusion in constant fear of an infection by the novel coronavirus outbreak, with special thoughts to our musician friends from Wuhan.
“We hope the connection quality will allow this double live streaming, come and share with us this unique experiment”.
The concert will be live-streamed on Sunday on Faslane and Influut’s Facebook pages from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
