The Macau Health Bureau (SSM) has ordered the immediate recall of a US-manufactured remedy called "LHC Sweet Sleep".
According to a statement by the bureau on Friday, SSM officials detected during a route inspection that the product's amount of microbials exceeds pharmacological criteria. The statement, which did not say when the inspection was carried out, noted that the remedy was manufactured by US-based Alfa Vitamins Laboratories Inc.
The statement quoted the local importer, who was not named, as saying that the product was only sold in community pharmacies. The bureau said that in order to protect public health it ordered the product's immediate recall by wholesalers and pharmacies. It also urged residents to contact the pharmacies where they bought the remedy.
