Macau's Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre announced during its daily press conference this afternoon that the city's 15th novel coronavirus (COVID-19) case, a 31-year-old Filipino hotel waiter, the second case confirmed today.
According to the press conference, the case as been classified as "imported."
The patient's last working day in Macau was on January 26. He visited his family in the Philippines between January 27 and March 15, according to the statement. He arrived in Macau from the Philippines via Hong Kong on Monday. He sought medical treatment for a toothache lasting three days and a day-long rash at the private Kiang Wu Hospital yesterday. The hospital classified him as a "moderate risk case", after which he returned to his home.
According to the press conference, the non-resident worker had stayed most of the time at home since returning to the Philippines, apart from going to Kiang Wu Hospital for treatment and a pharmacy to buy facemasks.
After the patient's pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus was diagnosed today, the patient was taken to the isolation ward of the public Conde de S. Januario Hospital.
The Health Bureau (SSM) has ordered the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) to disinfect the patient's home. SSM officials are investigating the patient's travel and contact history.
