The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre announced yesterday the city's 21st COVID-19 case, a 19-year-old female who arrived in Macau on Wednesday after a flight from the UK to Hong Kong with a stopover in Bangkok.

According to a statement by the centre, she took Thai Airways flight T911 (seat 776) on March 16 from London's Heathrow Airport to Bangkok, where she arrived on the following day. After a stopover in the Thai capital she took flight TG636 (seat 35C) to Hong Kong, where she boarded a special bus arranged by the Macau Tourism Crisis Management Office for a trip via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge to Macau. Upon arrival at the Macau checkpoint on March 18, she was transferred to a hotel designated for a fortnight of medical observation. She tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday, after which she was transferred by ambulance to the special emergency department of the public Conde de S. Januario Hospital Centre for follow-up tests which reconfirmed her novel coronavirus infection.

The patient is undergoing treatment at the isolation ward of the public hospital. The statement described her condition as "normal, without any signs of illness whatsoever."

Meanwhile, Macau's 22nd case was confirmed shortly after midnight today. The centre said in a separate statement that the patient is a 44-year-old local resident who flew from Dublin on Saturday to Hong Kong via Frankfurt. Upon arrival at the Macau checkpoint of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge yesterday, he was immediately taking to the public hospital for tests as he showed COVID-19 symptoms. He tested positive for the novel coronavirus. He has been transferred to the isolation ward of the hospital.
