Three people – two local permanent residents and a non-resident worker from Indonesia – have breached quarantine rules set for the city’s COVID-19 prevention measures, PSP Operation and Communication Division Chief Ma Chio Hong said yesterday.
During the daily press conference by the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre, Ma said that two of the people who had breached the quarantine rules were caught by police officers on patrol during a random check and one was reported by the centre.
Ma did not elaborate on where the two people were being quarantined.
According to Ma, one of the three cases is undergoing medical observation in a designated hotel and was found to have left the room to get food and daily necessities.
Ma said that the police were still gathering information and evidence, and would transfer the cases to the Public Prosecution Office (MP). Ma also urged people to cooperate with the pandemic prevention work, adding that quarantine skippers could face jail terms of up to six months.
