Unitary Police Services (SPU) Commissioner-General Ma Io Kun said yesterday that the government’s interdepartmental emergency mechanisms, which were in place during the city’s border checkpoints computer glitch on Saturday, were effective.

Ma made the remarks on the sidelines of yesterday’s reception celebrating the 8th anniversary of the Alliance of Common People Building Up Macau (API) at The Plaza Restaurant in Zape.

The automated passenger clearance systems – also known as e-channels – at the Barrier Gate checkpoints did not work properly for two hours on Saturday evening due to a computer malfunction.
