A mainlander who works as a caregiver at a local retirement home allegedly raped his female colleague in the facility’s storeroom while no one was there at night.
The victim told a friend about the incident after which both reported it to the Public Security Police (PSP) who arrested the suspect at the retirement home in Ilha Verde district early last week, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Leng Kam Lon said at a regular press conference on Friday.
The 23-year-old suspect surnamed Wu is a non-resident worker.
Leng said the Public Security Police (PSP) passed the case to the Judiciary Police on March 22. PJ officers arrested the suspect later that day.
PJ officers contacted the 20-year-old local female victim who told the police that she was invited by Wu for a chat in a storeroom on the fifth floor of the retirement home on March 21 around 11 p.m. When the victim was about to leave the room at midnight, the suspect suddenly grabbed the victim, removed her clothes and allegedly raped her without a condom. Afterwards the suspect told the victim to never reveal what had happened to anyone.
According to Leng, under questioning the suspect admitted to the crime but refused to cooperate with the police.
Wu has been transferred to the Public Prosecution Office (MP) for further questioning, facing a rape charge. According to Article 157 of the Macau Penal Code, Wu faces between three and 12 years behind bars.
