An exhibition entitled “Women in a Strange Land – a Saiyin Project” by post-1995 artist Saiyin is being held at the Post-Ox Warehouse Experimental Site, organised by the Ox Warehouse gallery and co-sponsored by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC). This is the first exhibition of the gallery’s “Artist-in-Residence Programme” series this year.
“Women in a Strange Land” is directly translated from the exhibition’s Chinese name.
According to online information provided by the Ox Warehouse, Saiyin mainly works in photography, video, oil painting, graphic design and writing. He came up with the idea of the “Women in a Strange Land” project while he was studying in Shanghai.
According to the information, the project focuses on immigrant issues based on the stories of two women who moved to Macau, one from the mainland and the other from Portugal.
According to the gallery, it’s the first time that the project is being exhibited. The exhibition showcases videos, photos and sound recordings of the two women’s monologues and captured the daily lives of each of them.
The exhibition runs until May 17 on the 2nd floor gallery of the Post-Ox Warehouse Experimental Site in 15 Rua do Volong opens daily (except Mondays) from noon to 7 p.m. Admission is free.
As part of the government’s COVID-19 epidemic prevention measures, all visitors entering the venue have to wear a facemask.
