Global COVID-19 deaths exceed 100,000: report

The world's novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) deaths exceed 100,000, the worldometers.info website reported early today.

At 1:15 a.m. today (Macau time),the number of COVID-19 deaths stood at 100,440, when the number of confirmed novel coronavirus cases amounted to 1.66 million. A total of 369,956 patients had recovered. The number of currently infected patients stood at 1.19 million, four percent of them in serious or critical condition.

According to the website, COVID-19 is affecting 210 countries and territories around the world.

Macau has 45 confirmed COVID-19 cases, without any deaths. Ten of the patients have been discharged from hospital. Macau confirmed its first COVID-19 case on January 22. All but three of the cases have been classified by the Health Bureau (SSM) as imported, most of them local students who returned from overseas.
