Three COVID-19 patients were discharged from Macau's public hospital today, taking the number of those no longer requiring hospitalisation to 13 among Macau's total of 45 novel coronavirus  cases, the government announced.

The announcement was made at the daily press conference of the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre.

According to the announcement, the trio comprise a 31-year-old non-resident worker from the Philippines (Macau's 15th COVID-19 case), a 27-year-old local resident who was diagnosed with the illness after returning from New York (31st case), and a 47-year-old Spanish tourist  (12th case) who arrived in Macau from Madrid via Moscow and Beijing.

The three men were taken today from the public hospital to the Health Bureau's (SSM) Public Health Clinical Centre in Coloane for 14 days of isolation and follow-up tests.

A total of 32 COVID-19 patients remain hospitalised. According to SSM officials, only one of the patients still in hospital is in serious conditions. All of the 32 have been classified as imported cases, most of them local students who returned from universities overseas.

The SSM officials pointed out during today's press conference that Macau has not confirmed a new COVID-19 case for four days. The first case was confirmed on January 22. Unlike Hong Kong, Macau has been spared a community outbreak of the highly infectious disease.

According to today's press conference, fewer than 600 people are currently in quarantine and medical observation at one of the now six designated hotels booked for the purpose by the government. At its peak, the number of "quarantine hotels" stood at 12.

Hong Kong today confirmed four more COVID-19 cases, taking the total to 1,005.

The global number of COVID-19 cases stood at 1.79 million at 10:15 p.m. (Macau Time) today, with 110,075 deaths, according to the worldometers.info website.
