The Macau government today eased COVID-19 entry restrictions for non-resident workers living in Zhuhai.
The eased entry restrictions will take effect at 6 a.m. on Monday, officials announced at the daily press conference of the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre. Hitherto the non-resident workers needed to undergo 14-day quarantine in Zuhai to be allowed entry into Macau.
According to the eased restrictions, non-resident workers holding a Zhuhai ID card or residency permit will be exempted from the quarantine requirement from 6 a.m. on Monday if they have obtained a official nucleic acid test certificate proving that they tested negative for the novel coronavirus in the past seven days and also that their colour code health declaration issued by the Macau Health Bureau (SSM) indicates "green", i.e. confirms that they don't have the disease.
An executive order signed by Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng on the new measure was gazetted today.
Tens of thousands on non-resident workers employed in Macau live in Zhuhai.
Macau has not confirmed a new COVID-19 case in 31 days. Only five of its 45 patients are still in isolation treatment. No COVID-19 death has been reported in Macau. All cases have been classified by the Health Bureau as imported cases or cases connected to imported cases. There has been no community outbreak. Almost all people have been wearing facemasks in Macau since late January.
