The Macau Public Library of the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) has launched a mobile app called “My Library” to facilitate the use of library resources and promote residents’ reading habits, according to an IC statement this week.
By using the app, users can search, reserve and renew library items as well as check the status of reserved, loaned and overdue items, fines and checkout history, according to the statement.
The statement points out that the app can be used as an electronic library card with which users can reserve or return library items at the self-check machines or reception counters.
According to the statement, the app also provides various types of information including library news, addresses and opening hours of branch libraries, a service guide, event updates, library publications, and “recommended reading”.
The statement notes that the public can download the app from the App Store and Google Play or by scanning the relevant QR code.
Meanwhile, the loan period of the library items which were originally due to be returned between January 24 and May 30 has been further extended until May 31, the bureau said in a separate statement on Monday.
