A local man who secretly filmed men urinating in a public toilet at Hac Sa Beach in Coloane was arrested on Saturday afternoon, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Wong Wai Chon said during a regular conference yesterday.
The 30-year-old suspect surnamed Fong told the police that he works as a technician.
According to Wong, a man reported to the police on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. that he saw a man using his smartphone to film him and other men when they were urinating in a public toilet at Hac Sa Beach. The victim told the police that he was aware someone was using a smartphone facing him when he went to the toilet at around 4 p.m., but he did not pay much attention to it. After 5 p.m. when he went to the toilet again he saw Fong was using the smartphone to film another man. He asked Fong about it, but the latter immediately ran towards the nearby barbecue area. The victim then reported the case to the police.
According to Wong, the police intercepted Fong near the barbecue area later. Wong said Fong confessed to the crime and told the police that he filmed three to four men on that day.
Wong said police officers found more than 100 such videos in Fong’s smartphone. Fong said that he started his “filming habit” in men’s toilets in various districts of the city about six months ago. Afterwards, police officers discovered more than 110 such videos on an external hard drive in Fong’s flat in Rua da Erva in San Kiu district.
Fong was transferred to the Public Prosecution office (MP) on Monday, facing invasion of privacy charges, according to Wong.
