The Fire Services Bureau (CB) received a call yesterday afternoon about what appeared to be a smoky fire in a flat on the 11th floor of Block 12 of Kwong Wa San Chuen Building in Avenida do Nordeste.
When the firefighters arrived at the scene, they quickly realised that the smoke was not caused by a fire but by a number of fumigators in the flat, the heavy smoke of which led residents in the building to believe that a fire had erupted and therefore called 999.
According to a message by the Fire Services Bureau, someone had apparently activated the fumigators and then left the flat without closing the windows. The firefighters quickly brought the smoke under control. No injuries were reported.
