MAS artists show their work after trip to Portugal

A street art event organised by the Macau Fisherman’s Wharf (MFW) will be held on Saturday for the public to experience Macau’s rich culture and have fun at the same time.

The waterfront entertainment, shopping and dining complex provides artistic and leisure activities for both adults and kids. On Saturday, visitors can have portrait sketches done by members of the Macau Artist Society (MAS) for free, according to information provided by the MFW.

The Macau Artist Society (MAS) is one of the largest and oldest art groups in Macau. An exhibition entitled “The Explicit Charm of Portugal –Sketches of Portugal” – by MAS artists whose trip to Portugal last year was sponsored by the Macau Foundation (FM) in conjunction with the Macau Economic and Commercial Delegation in Lisbon (DECM) and Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) – is currently being held at the MFW’s Galeria Lisboa showcasing 64 sets of artwork comprising watercolours, oil paintings, Chinese paintings, sketches, acrylic paintings, and calligraphy by 41 artists.

The artwork was created by the artists during their tour of Portugal in March last year.

The theme of the exhibition is based on the rich and colourful culture of the Iberian Peninsula, according to the MFW website.

The artists will sketch visitors’ portraits free of charge on the sidelines of the exhibition at the MFW on Saturday.

The street art event will be held in the MFW’s Legend Boulevard on Saturday between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The exhibition runs until May 30 at Galeria Lisboa at the MFW’s Lisbon 2 Building. It is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is free.

As part of the government’s COVID-19 epidemic prevention measures, all visitors entering the venue must wear a facemask, have their temperature checked, apply hand sanitiser and present a digital health declaration.
