The central government will support the country's Hong Kong and Macau special administrative regions in developing their economies and improving living standards, said a government work report submitted yesterday to the National People's Congress (NPC)for deliberation, according to Xinhua
Xinhua said the work report states that support will be offered by the central government to Hong Kong and Macau to better integrate their development into the overall development of the country and help them maintain long-term prosperity and stability.
The NPC held yesterday the opening meeting of its annual session at the Great Hall of the People. Macau has 12 NPC deputies. Macau Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng attended the opening meeting as a guest. Ho is a former Macau NPC deputy and an ex-member of the NPC Standing Committee.
