The immersive and interactive digital art experience as a result of connecting science, art and nature by Japanese collective teamLab has mesmerised people around the world, and its “SuperNature” installation in Macau is set to give locals a journey of exploration in a labyrinth of colours, light, nature and technology.

Formed in 2001, teamLab has been creating digital artworks for shows worldwide, and made its local debut in 2017. Now the collective has returned to the city with a much bigger installation at the Venetian in Cotai, with 19 pieces spread over 5,000 square metres of floor space and 8-metre high ceilings.

The large-scale exhibition does not provide any maps or recommended routes, the aim being to encourage visitors to explore and discover where each of the artworks are and how they interact with them.

The visuals of some of the artworks, such as The Infinite Crystal Universe made of countless strips of LED lights and mirrors with synchronised music and a light show, are very impressive and provide great photo opportunities with different combinations of angles, light and reflections.

Another inspiring artwork is the Light Sculpture – Plane series, which uses lasers and reflections. Other interactive installations include the “Valley of Flowers and People: Lost, Immersed and Reborn” where visitors will find themselves surrounded by moving digital flowers mapped on the floor, walls and ceiling and see them bloom and wither.

For more interactive shows, children can draw their own creature and have it mapped on the “Inverted Globe Graffiti Nature – Red List”, get active in the “Multi Jumping Universe” and “Hopscotch for Geniuses: Bounce on the Water”, “Sliding through the Fruit Field”, play with animated “Little People” and many more.

The exhibition, where visitors can easily spend two hours, is located in the Venetian’s Cotai Expo Hall F. It is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is priced at 238 patacas for adults and 168 patacas for children between three and 12. There are discounts for entries before 12 noon, and family packages are also available.
