The Identification Services Bureau (DSI) said in a statement yesterday that the self-service application for local permanent ID cards’ renewal has now been extended to 24 hours every day.

The extended self-service enables residents to renew their ID cards (officially abbreviated as “BIR”) at any time, the statement noted.

According to the statement, any Macau permanent ID holder who has reached the age of 25 or over indicated on the latest issuance date of their ID card can use the self-service kiosks to apply for their ID renewal.

The self-service accepts renewal applications as early as six months before the ID expires or at any time after its expiration date, the statement noted.

However, Macau permanent ID holders who are above 18 but younger than 25 on the latest issuance date of their ID cards can use self-service kiosks to renew their IDs only during office hours, because a height measurement is required for those applicants in the application process, the statement noted.

For applicants who need to change their personal information, such as names, marital status and parents’ names, cannot use the self-service kiosks, still need to visit the bureau’s service counters during office hours, the statement underlined.

At the moment, there are five locations with 24-hour self-service kiosks in the city, namely China Plaza in Avenida de Grande Praia, Government Services Centre in Areia Preta, Government Services Centre in Taipa, Taipa Public Services Centre – Seac Pai Van Station, and the bureau’s self-service station in Seac Pai Van.
