An annual member exhibition organised by the Macau Digital Photography Association (MDPA) entitled “Visual Dialogues” is being held at the IAM Gallery, focusing, among other things, on “special moments” during the current COVID-19 pandemic.

This event is co-sponsored by the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM), Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) and Macau Foundation (FM), according to the association’s website.

Yen Kuacfu, who chairs the association’s general meeting, told The Macau Post Daily yesterday that the exhibition aims to deliver the message of using images as a communication tool.

Consequently, all the group’s annual exhibitions have been titled “Visual Dialogues” since 2002 when the association was set up.

Yen said that for the current exhibition there were no restrictions on the subjects the photographers could choose so they were free to express their creativity through their work. Some of the images went through computer processing to express additional visual effects. Besides popular tourist attractions, wild wonders and portrait photography, the exhibits also depict local scenes during the COVID-19 epidemic to reflect the “special moments” of this year.

Photographic images best explain special moments, and those depicting the most ordinary daily life can become the best photos witnessing history, according to Yen.

The exhibition runs until June 30 in the ground-floor gallery at the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) headquarters at 163, Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro. It opens daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is free.

Visitors are required to wear a facemask and have their temperature checked when entering the gallery.
