An exhibition of straw art and mixed media by local artist Bezalel Ho Veng Kin entitled “Gracefull”, organised by the Ark-Association of Macau Art (AAMA) and sponsored by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), is being held at Café Voyage.

The event is AAMA’s annual art programme called “Art Power Jamming”, themed “Hidden Corner”, according to information provided by the association.

According to the information, this is the second exhibition of AAMA’s 2020 art programme this year. It aims to bring together different artists who work with their unique styles, methods and means, but all of them focusing on the common theme of “Hidden Corner” inspired by Macau’s multicultural background.

The exhibition aims to let its visitors experience different feelings as they view the exhibits and might remember the unique cultural landscapes in the city’s hidden corners which people may somehow have forgotten, according to the association.

Bezalel Ho told The Macau Post Daily in a phone interview last week that he was inspired by an online video of plastic straws being used to create art such as lobsters. He noted that plastic straws are eco-unfriendly products so it is a good idea that they can be reused to create artwork. He has been continuing his exploration and creations in straw art to create different kinds of artwork, and some of them mixed art – straw combined with painting. Ho said he would share his creative journey through workshops and exhibitions.

Ho said the exhibition’s title “Gracefull” meant “full of grace”.

The exhibition runs until July 18 on the first floor of Café Voyage in 31-A Rua do Padre António Roliz, Pou Mei Building, Block D. It opens daily from every day from 12 noon to10 p.m.
