A Filipino overstayer was arrested on Saturday for touching the buttocks of a young female while his girlfriend was arrested for aiding and abetting illegal immigration, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Wong Wai Chon said during yesterday’s regular press conference.
The jobless 37-year-old suspect is surnamed Malgapo. His 42-year-old Filipina girlfriend surnamed Muente told the police that she works as a domestic helper.
According to Wong, a local secondary school pupil reported to the police on Saturday afternoon that someone suddenly touched her buttocks when she walked past in Avenida Dr. Sun Yat Sun in Taipa. She turned around immediately and questioned the suspect who was behind her. Malgapo quickly fled towards Rua de Nam Keng.
Thanks to the CCTV footage of a nearby shop, PSP officers were able to intercept Malgapo at around 11 p.m. that day near Rua de Nam Keng. He told the police that he just accidentally touched somebody’s buttocks.
Upon investigation, PSP officers discovered that Malgapo has been an overstayer since 2013. He has been staying in different places during these years and has lived with Muente since last month in a flat in Rua de Nam Keng. PSP officers went to the flat and arrested Muente who confessed she knew that her live-in boyfriend is an overstayer.
The duo were transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) yesterday. Malgapo faces a sexual harassment charge while Muente faces a charge of aiding and abetting illegal immigration.
