“Sacred Magnate” won yesterday’s SJM Macau Derby at the racecourse in Taipa, the gaming operator said in a statement.
According to the statement, the 1,800-metre event involved fourteen 4-year-old thoroughbreds to compete for a prize-money of HK$2.3 million. The derby was title-sponsored by gaming operator SJM.
“SJM senior management joined the owner, trainer and jockey of the winning horse at the prize presentation ceremony after the race,” the statement said.
The statement quoted Daisy Ho Chiu Fung, chairwoman of the board of directors of SJM, as saying that “SJM is pleased to partner with [the] Macau Jockey Club in promoting the [SJM] Macau Derby.” Ho pointed out that this year marked the 17th year of her company’s title sponsorship.
“We will continue with your efforts to add more exciting and diversified sporting elements to Macau’s tourism and leisure activities,” Ho added.
