The Central People’s Government Liaison Office in the Macau Special Administration Region (MSAR) recently visited Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG), MGM and Melco Resorts & Entertainment to present the gaming operators with certificates of appreciation for supporting COVID-19 prevention efforts in the mainland and Macau.
The three gaming operators each said in separate statements yesterday that Yao Jian, a deputy director of the office, headed the delegation.
According to the GEG statement, Yao praised the company for actively fulfilling its corporate social responsibilities and demonstrating the spirit of unity and solidarity through its practical measures.
The GEG statement pointed out that the Liaison Office has coordinated with the enterprise twice so that donations could reach different locations and institutions involved in the mainland’s pandemic prevention and control work, including those involved in the construction of additional medical facilities, public health promotions, pandemic research, and others.
MGM said in its statement that Yao recognised the company’s prompt actions to assist the mainland and Macau in their fight against COVID-19, a dedication that also underscored its deep roots in Macau and strong patriotic spirit.
In the MGM statement, the Liaison Office encouraged the company to continue working in unity and cooperating with the local government and different groups to combat the pandemic, at the same time stressing the need to cultivate team members’ passion and sense of belonging to the nation.
Meanwhile, Melco said in its statement that Yao presented the company with a certificate commending its epidemic prevention efforts in a ceremony held at Morpheus last Wednesday.
The statement said that Yao expressed his appreciation for the company’s contributions not only to Wuhan but also for its efforts in assisting Macau’s local associations and the community in fighting COVID-19.
The novel coronavirus was first detected in Wuhan, capital of Hubei province, late last year.
The Liaison Office delegation last week also visited Sands China to present the company with a certificate of appreciation for its COVID-19 relief efforts, according to a statement from the Hong Kong-listed US gaming operator last Thursday.
