The Macau Civil Aviation Authority (AACM) said in a statement yesterday that drone flights over some areas in Macau will be banned during the government-sponsored helicopter rides to ensure that the sightseeing tours will take place in a safe environment.
The helicopter rides, which are part of the government’s “Macao Ready Go” tourism revival measures, will be conducted at a relatively low height alongside Taipa and Coloane, the statement pointed out.
Due to the need to set up clearance for the helicopter route, thereby ensuring passengers’ safety, the regulator decided to ban unmanned aircraft activities in certain zones between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Wednesdays to Sundays from July 31 to August 30, based on the respective regulations.
Anyone breaching the ban faces a fine ranging between 2, 000 patacas and 20,000 patacas, the statement pointed out.
The above notice is listed in Despacho No. 008/AACM/20 published in today’s Official Gazette No. 31, Series II.
The temporarily restricted zones (“drone ban”) are marked in red on the map released by the Macau Civil Aviation Authority (AACM) yesterday.
