Melco wins 3 gold awards at Vocational Skills Competition

Eighteen employees of Melco Resorts & Entertainment participated in the 2nd Macau Integrated Tourism and Leisure Enterprises Vocational Skills Competition 2020 where they won two gold awards in Hotel Services and one gold in Gaming & Entertainment categories.

The competition held at JW Marriott Hotel was jointly organised by the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) and Macau Federation of Trade Unions (FAOM).

In the Gaming & Entertainment category, Melco employees were awarded gold with distinction in “Game Rules & Customer Service”, and were second runner-up in “Chipping”.

In the Hotel Services category, the team achieved gold with distinction in “Housekeeping” and received gold in “Property Services”.

For the Culinary category, the team was awarded silver.

Akiko Takahashi, Executive Vice President & Chief of Staff to Chairman & CEO of Melco Resorts & Entertainment, said that the competition was a very important skill building programme which was key to motivating local people to improve these skills.

“It’s good for our colleagues to participate, to learn and also have fun in their profession,” Takahashi said.

Supervisor of Housekeeping Wong Lei Lei said that joining the competition help enhance their vocational skills and at the same time showcase the team’s quality of service, which was always their top priority.

Duty Engineer of Property Services and Competition Leong Weng Fai said he never imagined that during his career he’d get a chance to take part in such a large scale technical skill related competition.

Pit Supervisor for Table Games Kam Nga Lon said the most important takeaway for her from participating in the competition was having the chance to learn from their counterparts and develop further skills, as well as to expand their professional horizons.

Representing the Culinary Team is local chef Leong Chi Hin, who said he was proud to be part of the competing team and was grateful for the invaluable opportunity that is beneficial for his personal and professional growth.               – mrepr
