The Executive Council (ExCo) has finished discussing the draft of a bill on the establishment of a non-mandatory central provident fund for the city’s employees, Social Security Fund (FSS) President Iong Kong Io said yesterday, adding that after finalising the bill the government will submit it to the legislature for debate and vote as soon as possible.

The FSS president made the remarks after attending a phone-in programme run by government-owned broadcaster TDM’s Chinese-language radio station Ou Mun Tin Toi yesterday.

Iong said the government would come up with measures to encourage companies to get involved in the fund, adding he hoped the fund will eventually become mandatory.
