The Infrastructure Development Office (GDI) has announced that it expects the construction of the new headquarters of the Macau Customs Service on the land reclamation area officially known as Zone E1 to get off the ground in the first half of next year.
Zone E1 lies off Pac On in Taipa, between the Macau-Taipa Friendship Bridge and the Taipa Ferry Terminal.
The office unsealed bids submitted by 19 construction companies for the construction of the project on Thursday. Among the 19 bids submitted, 18 were accepted, while the office rejected one.
According to a statement by the office on Friday, the quotations proposed by the 18 accepted bidders range from 632 million patacas to 738 million patacas.
According to the statement, the office has set a maximum period of 850 working days for the winning bidder to complete the project.
According to the statement, the construction periods proposed by the 18 bidders range from 740 to 825 working days.
According to the statement, the site where the new customs headquarters will be located covers about 5,700 square metres. The seven-storey building will have a gross area of about 40,000 square metres.
The Customs Service is currently headquartered near Barra at the southern tip of the Macau peninsula.
