The Macau IN volunteer group organised yesterday a Mid-Autumn Festival activity for families which joined its “dreams-come-true-take-off’ programme 2019 to celebrate and provide support to families, the group’s general director, Lúcia Lam Yin Man, told reporters yesterday.
Yesterday’s event, which was attended by about 80 people, was held at the Taipa Chun Su Mei Community Centre
Lam pointed out that the programme is an event that aims to fulfil families and children’s dream of flying in a plane. Lam said that the event wanted to support single-parent families, low-income families, and families with mentally or physically disabled children to experience a flight and see the world.
According to Lam, the event has been running for six years and it has helped 187 local families to visit other countries. Lam added that due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, the programme could not fly any families this year. However, Lam said, the organisation still hosts at least two other events every year to reunite families that joined the programme in previous years and all the families from previous flights.
Lam said that yesterday’s event was to reunite families from last year, adding she hoped that through the reunion her group could keep up-to-date with the families’ situations and witness the children’s growth.
