Macau’s “two Hos” meet at National Day reception

Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng (left) chats with Edmund Ho Hau Wah, Macau’s first chief executive, who is now a vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), when walking to the podium before the start of yesterday afternoon’s reception hosted by the influential Macau Chamber of Commerce (ACM) at its headquarters in Zape to celebrate the 71st anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) today and the upcoming 21st anniversary of the establishment of the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR). Ma Iao Lai, who heads the chamber,delivered a speech during the reception. The MSAR was established on December 20, 1999. The Chinese surnames of Macau’s “two Hos” are spelt with different Chinese characters: 何厚鏵 (Ho Hau Wah) and 賀一誠 (Ho Iat Seng). – Photo: MPDG
