A Filipino was arrested last week for filming a woman showering at her home through the transom window in the corridor of a building where he also lives, a Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesperson said during a regular press conference on Friday.

According to the spokesperson, the Filipino is a non-resident worker employed in Macau as a cleaner.

When the woman in her thirties was showering at her home in San Kio district at around 11 p.m. last Tuesday, she saw that she was being filmed on a smartphone through the transom window between the bathroom and the building’s corridor, the spokesperson said.

According to the spokesperson, the woman pointed the shower head at the window and shouted. A family member rushed out of the flat, but the suspect – the Filipino surnamed Atuan – had already run away, the spokesperson said. The family reported the case to the police.

After investigating, PJ officers identified the suspect as the Filipino who lives in the same building. They discovered that the Filipino ran out of the building and kept wandering in the nearby area for an hour before returning to his home, apparently attempting to evade detection by the police, the spokesperson said.

According to the spokesperson, PJ officers intercepted the Filipino on Wednesday night, who admitted to filming the woman showering as he got sexually excited when he heard someone showering through the transom window when he was walking past.

However, he told the police that he had deleted the video clips, the spokesperson said. He has been transferred to the Public Prosecution Office (MP), facing an invasion of privacy charge, according to the spokesperson.
