Sands China has recently launched its Summer Fiesta, being the latest initiative of its Community Revitalisation Series at the erstwhile Iec Long Firecracker Factory and Taipa Houses, the integrated resort (IR) operator said in a statement earlier this week.

The statement noted that the former firecracker factory has been transformed into the “Iec Long Zoo”, which showcases “colourful and whimsical animal sculptures and the beauty of nature to create a joyful atmosphere”, while Love at Taipa Houses offers a “romantic and leisurely sanctuary” for members of the public. Complimentary activities for residents and visitors are also available, the company said.

The Iec Long Zoo features a raft of animal installations, with the cute creations offering free family activities until May 12 for all, including balloon artistry and face painting during holidays, according to the statement.

Meanwhile, Love at Taipa Houses is on until May 31, featuring the design of the Encounter Love installation. The statement said that the installation “serves as a perfect photo backdrop”, featuring a larger-than-life bouquet composed of dozens of fibreglass summer flowers. Free instant photo services are also provided by on-site resident photographers.

Both installations are on display until May 31.

Sands China Ltd. Executive Vice Chairman Wilfred Wong Ying-wai was quoted by the statement as saying: “We hope locals and tourists alike enjoy the beauty of the attractive new installations at these historic Macao locations early this summer”.

Moreover, local art organisation Comuna de Pedra (“Stone Commune”) is also presenting the fourth edition of its inclusive arts festival “Todos Fest!*” until Sunday at the former firecracker factory, featuring performances, film screenings, rehabilitative workshops, a multi-media experience and an inclusive market. “The festival unites local and Hong Kong artists, local volunteers and community organisations, seniors and individuals with physical and mental disabilities”, the statement said.

Wong was quoted by the statement as saying that the arts festival aims to spread “positivity in the community and promote the idea of social inclusion –making the city a more inclusive and understanding place for all.”

*Todos means “for all” in Portuguese.
