As part of the ongoing series of activities to commemorate the 32nd Anniversary of the promulgation of the Macau Basic Law, the “On the Road with the Law” education carnival was held in Tap Seac Square yesterday, attracting over 17,000 members of the public – and Ho Sio Kam, vice president and secretary of the Macau Basic Law Promotion Association (ADLBM), said that the practice of the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR) over the past 25 years has demonstrated that the Basic Law provides solid legal protection for the prosperity and stability of Macau, ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of its residents while promoting harmonious social development.

The campaign was jointly held by the association, in conjunction with the Legal Affairs Bureau (DSAJ), Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM), and the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ). The kick-off ceremony for the one-day event took place yesterday afternoon.

Delivering a speech during the ceremony, Ho emphasised that the campaign aims to promote the core ideas of the Macau Basic Law and “One Country, Two Systems” principle as well as to deepen the public’s knowledge and understanding of the Basic Law, adding she hoped that the diverse formats of the campaign will make legal knowledge more relevant to the daily lives of the public and help the concept of the rule of law become more deeply rooted in the hearts of the people.

The one-day event featured stage performances, legal awareness booths, inflatable rides for children, and simulated driving experiences, allowing the public to learn about the nation’s Constitution and the Macau Basic Law.

The education campaign will last until December.
