HK Airport Direct, a shuttle bus service bus that travels between Hong Kong International Airport and the Macau Port checkpoint of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HZMB), will soon allow passengers to get their boarding passes and baggage check-in at the bridge’s Macau Port checkpoint, after which travellers will be taken directly airside to the Hong Kong International Airport without having to disembark or go through immigration in Hong Kong, Hong Kong & Macao International Airport Transportation Service (Macau) Vice General Manager Chan Man Iok told reporters yesterday.
Chan made the remarks during a press briefing at the HZMB Macau Port checkpoint yesterday morning.
According to Chan, the first phase of the shuttle bus service will operate from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The bus service between Hong Kong and Macau will run every hour, and the whole journey time will be about 45 minutes, which was expected to be half an hour less than the existing service, Chan added.
Chan noted that the number of seats on the bus is 36, and that during the first phase of the service, the ticket price will be HK$250 or patacas for an adult for the first two months, followed by a regular fare of HK$280 or patacas after the first two months, with a departure tax refund of HK$120 at the Hong Kong International Airport.
Chan underlined that he expected that by Christmas, the second phase of the service will be extended to the early hours of the morning, after which it would gradually become a 24/7 operation, with the service spaced up to 15 minutes apart.
