A non-resident worker from the mainland was arrested last week for masturbating in front of a female passer-by in Praceta do Bom Sucesso in Iao Hon, Public Security Police (PSP) spokeswoman Lai In Hong said during a regular press conference on Friday.
The suspect surnamed Zhong, a married man in his thirties, is employed by a shop as a maintenance worker.
According to Lai, a woman in her twenties reported to the police on Wednesday afternoon that a man exposed his genitals when she was walking past the square in the morning of that day. She told the police that a man wearing a red jacket and black jeans suddenly unzipped his fly and masturbated in front of her. The victim was scared and left the scene immediately and later reported the case to the police.
After scrutinising CCTV footage of the area, PSP officers identified Zhong and arrested him in a shop later that day. Zhong works in the shop near the crime scene. Under questioning, Zhong claimed that when he arrived at the shop at 8:30 a.m. and was waiting for the door to open, he urgently needed to go to the bathroom, so he urinated on the pavement, and the female passer-by had just “by chance” seen him passing water, according to Lai.
Lai said Zhong’s claim did not match the CCTV footage, and after repeated questioning Zhong finally admitted that he had had a “sudden sexual desire” and unzipped his jeans and masturbated
Zhong has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing an exhibitionism charge, according to Lai.
